Stone done the way it should be
Natural stone rewards patience. Every slab and every piece of veneer is different, so layout has to be planned around the material rather than forced onto a grid. We dry-lay, sort for color and vein, and cut on site so the finished surface reads as one piece of work.
Substrate prep matters even more than with tile. Stone is heavy and unforgiving: interior floors need a rigid, level base; exterior work needs drainage, freeze-thaw-stable material, and mortars rated for it. We build those layers properly instead of hiding problems under the finish.
Then we seal it with the right product for the stone and tell you how to keep it looking that way. Interior marble, a bluestone patio, and a limestone shower each need different care, and you should know which is which before we hand the space back.

- Does natural stone need to be sealed?
- Most porous stone — marble, travertine, limestone, slate — does. We seal on install and tell you exactly which product to reapply and how often for your specific stone and location.
- Can stone be installed outdoors in the Pacific Northwest?
- Yes, with the right material and detailing. We choose freeze-thaw stable stone, build proper drainage and setting beds, and use exterior-rated mortars so a patio or walkway survives wet Washington winters.
- What's the difference between stone and porcelain that looks like stone?
- Porcelain is cheaper, harder, and fully consistent. Natural stone has depth and variation no print can match, but it needs sealing and gentler cleaning. We'll walk you through the trade-off for your specific room.
- Do you do stone veneer on exteriors and fireplaces?
- We do — full facades, garage fronts, fireplace surrounds, and accent walls, installed over a proper moisture barrier and lath so the substrate stays dry.
