Wood floors that stay flat
Most hardwood problems in the Puget Sound region come down to moisture. Slabs release it, crawl spaces hold it, and a floor installed without testing and a proper barrier will cup or gap within a year or two. We test first and build the assembly around what the test says.
We install solid and engineered hardwood — oak, hickory, maple, walnut — plus luxury vinyl plank for basements, bathrooms, rentals, and commercial floors that need to be waterproof and take abuse. Nail-down, glue-down, and floating systems all have their place, and we pick based on the substrate rather than habit.
Stairs, landings, thresholds, and trim get the same attention as the open field. Those are the details people actually touch, and they are where a rushed install shows first.

- Hardwood or LVP — which should I choose?
- Hardwood adds long-term value and can be refinished; LVP is fully waterproof, cheaper, and better for basements, bathrooms, rentals, and high-traffic commercial spaces. We'll tell you honestly which fits your room, not which costs more.
- Can hardwood go over a concrete slab?
- Engineered hardwood can, with a moisture barrier and a moisture test first. Solid hardwood generally should not go directly on slab — that's a common cause of cupping in Washington's damp climate.
- How long before I can walk on the new floor?
- Floating LVP is walkable immediately. Glue-down floors need about 24 hours before furniture goes back. Nail-down hardwood is walkable the same day, though we ask you to keep heavy loads off for a day.
- Do you handle trim and transitions?
- Yes — baseboards, shoe molding, stair nosing, and transitions to tile or carpet are part of the job, matched to the flooring so the finished edges look built-in.
